Our client is a famous European institution located in Kirchberg in Luxembourg. They are looking for a Sustainable finance officer M/F for a temporary assignment of 2 months (with the possibility to extend until 12 months).
The incumbent(s) report to and work under the supervision of senior members of the Thematics and Advisory Division/ Sustainable Finance Unit.
Purpose As an Officer in the Sustainable Finance Unit of the Thematics and Advisory Division, you will play a central role in advancing the sustainable finance agenda. You will contribute to the implementation of climate and sustainability strategies and support their integration across a broad range of financial activities. Working closely with the Head of Unit, your responsibilities will span multiple product lines, providing broad organisational exposure. You will contribute to the design and operationalisation of climate aligned product frameworks and support the translation of evolving EU sustainable finance policies into practical financial solutions.
Responsibilities • Support the rollout of existing climate‑related financial products, including by promoting initiatives that enhance deployment capacity and performance; • Contribute to the design of new financial instruments targeting climate and sustainability objectives; • Support the effective implementation of climate strategies and related principles across the organisation, ensuring they are embedded into all relevant business lines, with clear communication and follow‑up with the services involved; • Conduct sectoral analysis on specific topics such as cleantech, climate adaptation, critical raw materials and the circular economy; • Act as a point of reference for internal services, providing advice on the interpretation of eligibility criteria, internal policies and the application of EU regulations; • Share expertise on sustainable and green finance regulations and engage with regulatory stakeholders; • Contribute to a harmonised approach to eligibility criteria and climate‑related frameworks across financial products; • Build and maintain networks with policymakers and industry stakeholders.
Qualifications • At least 3 years of recent and relevant experience, in climate policy, sustainable finance product design, or related areas, ideally with exposure to complex projects or frameworks; • Deep understanding of the EU Sustainable Finance Framework; • Experience in structuring and designing green financial products; • Ability to prepare analytical internal position papers and translate regulatory requirements into operational guidance; • Knowledge of financial products is highly desirable.
Competencies • Excellent knowledge of English. Knowledge of other EU languages would be an advantage; • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; • Proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel for business presentations and data analysis; • Ability to analyse large quantities of business information in limited time to produce clear and concise executive summaries or memoranda; • Proactivity, capability to work autonomously under given objectives and ability to organise own work effectively even under time pressure; • Strong team spirit, cross-cultural communication skills, and experience engaging with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. #LI-DNI
